Jim Ward and Alexis Moore of the Special School District, attended the annual Summer Academy of the Missouri National Education Association July 25-28 in Columbia . The conference drew more than 300 teachers, education support professionals and students studying to be teachers from across the state.
“Meeting the Challenges: Mission Possible” was the theme for the conference, which included sessions designed to improve skills and knowledge on association leadership, political action, collective bargaining, family-school-community partnerships and communications.
The 33,000-member MNEA represents teachers, education support professionals, college faculty, retired teachers and students studying to be teachers in school districts and on college campuses throughout the state. It is the Missouri affiliate of the 2.8 million-member NEA.
