The REAL cost of the war in Iraq.

This information circulated on the internet two years ago when the cost of the Iraq war stood at only $250,000,000,000.  The current cost is over half a trillion dollars (that's a 5 with 11 zeros after it)!  But for the $250 billion spent by 2006 we could have had:

33 million children in a Head Start program

149 million children with health insurance

4.3 million additional public school teachers

12 million scholarships to four-year colleges

Immunizations for every child in the world for 83 years.

These numbers are big and they reflect that there is only a shortage of "political will" - not funding- to create a Great Public School for Every Child!

November 17, 2006 You Made a Difference on Election Day. Thanks!

Teachers, education support professionals and friends of public education made a difference on November 7 in dozens of down-to-the-wire governors, senate and congressional races. Thanks to you, we have more elected officials who will support public schools and who believe that great public schools are a basic right for every child.
