On
June 6, 2007 the Joint Resolution was extended to June 30, 2009 and a 3 year
salary schedule was adopted by the members of SDNEA. Two changes will
be in effect for the Joint Resolution:
The ESY/SNAP/Homebound rate will
increase from $27.50/hour to $28.00/hour.
The amount of tuition reimbursement
is going up from the equivalent of 3 graduate hours to 6
graduate hours effective 2008-2009.
On
May 9, 2006 SDNEA members voted overwhelmingly to ratify the Joint Resolution
for 2006-2008. There are several notable changes and improvements at that
time:
Article 5 - SDNEA was able to reduce what is reimbursed to the District
for the cost of a full-time release President.
Article 7 - Language was improved to guarantee Due Process rights.
Article 12.2.1 - New language added to insure a "paid" duty free
lunch.
Article 12.3.4 - The language was clarified as to what counts towards the
48 hours the district may use for staff meetings/trainings outside of the
workday.
Article 12.2.5 - SDNEA gained language that begins to clarify the role of
a Department Chairperson.
Article 13 - SDNEA rejected a proposed increase of the contract year to
193 days.
Article 15.2.3 - Casemanagers may request release time to complete their
reports
Article 15.5.1 - Employees may now decline the District's offer for additional
caseload.
Article 15 - Pay issues; Medicaid report work rate increased to $17.00/hour.
Screening/Evaluation Times were increased across the board.
Article 19 - The ESY selection process was revised to allow teachers already
working in buildings to have a better chance to continue to do so.
Article 19.3.1 - SDNEA will now have some input in determining fair salaries
for coaches and others hired to Extra Duty Contracts.
Article 23.3.4 - The amount paid for accumulated sick leave upon retirement
was increased to $80.00
Article 28 - The language concerning how soon you would be notified of a
change in building assignment was strengthened. SDNEA (with the help
of all our concerned members) resisted the total elimination of the May transfer
opportunity. The March transfer will remain the same. However,
in May employees can apply but there are no guarantees for receiving interviews.
Your
Bargaining Team proposed many other great ideas for improving the Paid Absence
Policy, attracting substitute teachers and increasing retirement benefits.
It is always possible that additional agreements can be reached with the District
before the term of this Joint Resolution expires. Your Association will
continue to strive to hear your ideas and make them a reality.
